Abstract
Event-based tourism is now one of the most rapidly growing niche areas of tourism (Getz 2008). It is important to improve the value of the destination to give the unique experience for tourists. The quality experiences provided to customers, which are indeed memorable, directly determine a business’s ability to generate revenue (Pine and Gilmore 1999). Therefore this research is important in order to explore the memorable tourist experience in the destination through culture event called ‘Silence Day’ or Nyepi in Bali. Silence Day is one of culture heritage event celebrated in a series of activities by Hindu’s in Bali. Survey on 162 domestic tourists and 162 foreign tourists as samples was done during the silence day series celebration analysed by exploratory factor analysis or principal component analysis (PCA). The Result shows that from 40 indicators there are 7 variables build to be memorable experiences for domestic: 1) Assesment of service, Participation, Happiness, Personal Relevance, Assesment of Value; 2) Hedonism,Meaningfulness, Relaxation, knowledge and Challenging; 3) Unexpected Things and Novelty; 4) Adverse Feelings; 5) Refreshment; 6) Social Interaction; 7) Stimulation. On the other hands there are also 7 variables that build the memorable Tourist Experience about Silence days in Bali for foreigners : 1) Faktor Hedonism, Relaxation, Stimulation, Refreshment, Happines, Meaningfulness, Knowledge, Challenge, Personal Relevance, Novelty, Participation; 2) Unexpected Happening; 3) Assessement of Value & Assesement of Service; 4) Social Interaction and Novelty; 5) Personal Relevance; 6) Adverse Feelings; 7) Challenge.
