November 28, 2026 – November 29, 2026
The 11th International Conference on Sustainability (ICoS) is an annual international academic forum organized by the Postgraduate Program of Universitas Merdeka Malang, Indonesia. Over the past eleven years, ICoS has grown into a multidisciplinary platform that brings together researchers, academics, professionals, policymakers, students, and industry representatives from around the world to exchange ideas, disseminate research findings, and strengthen collaborations in addressing contemporary global challenges.
As the world continues to experience rapid technological advancement, accelerating climate change, geopolitical uncertainty, environmental degradation, and widening socioeconomic disparities, sustainable development requires more than incremental improvements. It calls for transformative approaches that integrate innovation, resilience, inclusivity, and responsible governance across disciplines. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation, green technologies, and data-driven decision-making have opened unprecedented opportunities while simultaneously introducing ethical, legal, and societal challenges.
Against this backdrop, the 11th International Conference on Sustainability (ICoS) 2026 adopts the theme:
“Resilient Futures: Advancing Innovation, Sustainability, and Inclusive Development”.
The theme reflects the growing recognition that resilience is no longer merely the capacity to recover from crises, but the ability to adapt, transform, and thrive amid continuous environmental, economic, technological, and social changes. Building resilient futures requires interdisciplinary collaboration that embraces scientific innovation, responsible governance, sustainable business practices, community empowerment, and local knowledge.
The conference emphasizes the importance of integrating technological innovation with human-centered development while ensuring that sustainability remains the guiding principle across all sectors. Inclusive development is equally essential to guarantee that the benefits of innovation are accessible to all communities regardless of social, economic, or geographical differences. Furthermore, local wisdom continues to provide valuable insights for achieving context-sensitive and culturally appropriate sustainable solutions.
As a multidisciplinary conference, the 11th ICoS welcomes contributions from economics, management, accounting, law, governance, architecture, planning, environmental sciences, engineering, social sciences, education, and the humanities. Through keynote lectures, invited speakers, panel discussions, and parallel paper presentations, participants will explore emerging challenges and identify innovative strategies for creating resilient societies and sustainable development pathways.
The conference also supports the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. Through knowledge exchange and partnership building, the 11th ICoS aims to contribute to evidence-based policies, innovative practices, and sustainable solutions that benefit both local communities and the global society..
