Abstract

Kemiren Tourism Village is considered as one of the villages that most firmly upholds the Osing tradition that has been passed down by its predecessors or ancestors. In 1996, Regent Purnomo Sidik designated this village as an Osing Traditional Tourism Village (Regent Regulation No. 401 of 1996). Kemiren Tourism Village has always shown changes over time, both increasing and decreasing. Changes in physical form and management systems indicate that this village is in a tourism destination cycle. The purpose of this study was to identify the stages of tourism development in Kemiren Tourism Village, Banyuwangi Regency. In this study, the theoretical basis used is the Destination Life Cycle Theory from Butler (1990). This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and literature studies. This study uses interviews with the in-depth interview method or in-depth interviews with a minimum of 10 informants. Interviews will be conducted in depth with stakeholders involved in the development of tourism in Kemiren Tourism Village, as well as involved in the implementation of the Osing Traditional House Cultural Heritage Area revitalization program. The results of the study indicate that the Position of Kemiren Tourism Village reviewed from the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) Theory meets the criteria of being in the involvement phase according to the destination life cycle theory, being at the involvement stage shows that Kemiren Tourism Village is heading towards a more advanced level than before. The impact of tourism development has been felt by the community in Kemiren Tourism Village, their initial livelihood which was only as farmers in the fields, now they have additional income from tourism activities.
