Abstract
Food is a very important issue in development, because the amount of food expenditure is the largest part of the living cost of society. The high demand is not proportional to the growth of production, so the Government must make a way out to reduce the level of food consumption of the community over the rice is excessive by way of diversification of local food-based food.
In the preparation of this Final Report the researcher took the title "BUILDING FOOD IMPARTMENT THROUGH LOCAL FOOD-BASED FOOD DIVERSIFICATION IN SOUTHEAST MALUKU MALUKU PROVINCIAL REGION," with the aim of describing the extent of food diversification in reducing rice consumption through dietary habit that depends not only on one food source.
The research method used is descriptive research method with inductive approach, aims to describe the systematic, factual, and accurate about the facts. In this study the authors use data collection techniques with interviews, observation, and documentation.
The results showed that in general the diversification of local food-based food has not been effective where the people of Southeast Maluku who have had a very diverse staple food culture experienced changes in consumption patterns and reduced role of local food due to the source of carbohydrates that switch from tubers to rice. From the results of this study the researchers suggest that in the implementation of local food-based diversification of food needs to do alternative policies that can create food self-sufficiency.
