ABSTRACT

​The background of this research begins with government policies in revitalizing parks as public spaces whose existence is important for an urban area to meet the needs of green open space. Revitalization has been carried out at 18 park points from a total of 50 parks in Malang City. The factors that cause the need to revitalize parks include land use or parks that have changed their function as built-up land in the form of settlements and shops and the lack of maintenance of several parks located in strategic locations. This study uses a qualitative method that produces descriptive data through literature review, field observations, and in-depth interviews with informants consisting of government elements who carry out public space utilization policies through the revitalization of parks in Malang City.

​From the research results it is known that the policies in implementing the park revitalization program from planning, implementation to evaluation always involve the community, this can be seen from the socialization stage to the revitalization implementation agreement carried out by agencies by presenting representatives of related community groups in the delivery of formulations and design changes revitalization. On the other hand, for the results of the implementation of the policy on the use of public space through the revitalization of parks in Malang City, the government continues to carry out the supervision carried out by the DPKP as a form of maintaining the revitalized park.

​The results of this research are to find out how the policies in the use of public spaces through the revitalization of parks in Malang City and what are the problems faced in the policies on the use of public spaces through the revitalization of these parks. After the researcher conducts a study and data analysis, the conclusion that the researcher can conclude is that the policy of using public space through revitalization can be categorized as effective to be able to overcome the number of public spaces in the form of parks in Malang City.
